Hey everyone it’s Zainab, welcome back to my blog! As some of you may know I have had ‘I Am Malala’ on my must read book list for a while and I finally got the chance to read it, so today I’m going to share my thoughts on it in the review!
I Am Malala received 4.1 average star rating from Goodreads as well as The Guardian Newspaper reporter saying ‘I was so hooked that I finished it in one day!’ Common Sense Media gave it multiple 5 star reviews and 89% of Google Users liked the book!
I thought ‘I Am Malala’ was such an inspiring and moving story told in such a unique way. What I loved about the book is that Malala wrote it herself so readers could really get the full perspective of what happened to her and what was going through her mind! One thing I found so amazing is that Malala’s father also stood up for feminism and how Malala talks about her close bond with her father in such a lovely way! I do also find it quite interesting when Malala talks about her feelings of waking up in a foreign country’s hospital because for anybody that can be quite terrifying!
Personally, I think this book showcases her story better than any other way it has been told. There is also a documentary called ‘He Named Me Malala’ which I have seen, however, as the book was written by Malala herself I prefer how she shares her true reality.
Synopsis (From Goodreads)
Malala Yousafzai is the youngest person ever considered for the Nobel Peace Prize. She stood up to the Taliban and nearly paid with her life. She shares her amazing story in her own words and proves that one person, no matter her age, can change the world.
