Becoming By Michelle Obama Book Review

Hi everyone it’s Zainab, welcome or welcome back to Zainab Chats! Today, I’m going to be doing a quick review of the book, ‘Becoming’ by Michelle Obama! Let’s jump into the review!

Official Reviews:
This memoir got some excellent reviews including: 5/5 on Waterstones and 4.5/5 on Goodreads. It also got an average audience rating of 4.5/5 stars on Google!

My Opinion:
Becoming to me, was such a powerful story. Everyone who sees Michelle Obama thinks that she has such a perfect life, but in reality, nobody is perfect and this memoir really puts everything into perspective. The way she was able to talk about her pain, and sorrow that she went through is really inspiring.

One of my favourite chapters in her book is the one where she talks about adapting herself to motherhood. I love how she didn’t want to be stereotypical and still wanted to keep a job after she had her daughter which is really wonderful to see. I also loved the part of the book where she talked about becoming FLOTUS (First Lady of The United States.) I think it was really interesting that she wanted to be a unique First Lady and she wanted to help America – especially with the Vegetable garden in the white house.

One of her biggest struggles she talks about towards the end of the book is trust. She says ‘Our whole family in a giant trust fall.’ This must’ve been difficult for her because as she was the First Lady, she must’ve not known who to trust. Anybody could’ve hurt her family, leaked things out to the public, so the fact that she could overcome that is so influential!

All in all, I thought this book really gives a powerful insight into life in the public eye, embracing the struggle of politics, motherhood and more. It’s so powerful that even though she left the White House she knew the journey wasn’t over and kept on her amazing work. I felt a sense of happiness when I finished it! I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling right now, it’s such a great motivational tool!!

Described by the author as a deeply personal experience, the book talks about her roots and how she found her voice, as well as her time in the White House, her public health campaign, and her role as a mother.

I was thinking about the interview Zainab. I think we should postpone it because I’m quite busy right now with my studies and other stuff.

We have to learn on this journey. I hope you understand. I appreciate your work and support as a curious reader.

The word “ Becoming ” is so close to what I’m going through. I’m writing a post like be the light, be the choice, be the life, be the voice & so.
I have so many dreams and sometimes they make me feel scared. I doubt whether I’m going to achieve my dreams or not. I have a wider approach, including everyone.

Sometimes, you expect too much from yourself. It is not bad if you have enough time, resources and skills to work on your ideas. But I don’t have enough skills.

Basically, I want to write picture-based stories on my blog.

I love this! I also adored reading Becoming. It was just so empowering and inspiring that I felt like I could do everything I wanted to do, if I just let myself. I love you blog, btw! So in love with the simplicity of your design. ❤
