Exploring My Ennegram – Am I Really Type 3?

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here, welcome or welcome back to my blog! I’m very excited to write today’s blog post because I’ve never done anything like this before. I’ve had a lot of new faces here so I thought for this blog post, I would explore my Ennegram Type and see if it’s relatable to myself. For anybody that doesn’t know what an ennegram is, don’t worry I’ll be going through what it is in the post.

Before I get started, I just wanted to credit my good friend Maryam from Infinitely A Daydreamer as this post was inspired by he – go check out her post and her blog. Let’s jump into it!

What Is An Ennegram?
An ennegram is essentially a personality type that you are. There are 9 in total and you figure yours out through taking an Ennegram Personality Test. Each ennegram has different strengths, weaknesses and traits and it’s really cool to be able to see them and if they actually relate to you!

How To Learn About Your Ennegram?
To find your ennegram, you should take the Ennegram Personality Test. You can click here to take it on Truity! Then, if you’d like to learn more about your ennegram, check out Deanna Talwalkar on Instagram (@mirabellecreations). She’s a certified ennegram educator and creates so many graphics about the different types, this is where I got a lot of information about my ennegram that’s coming up in the post – so make sure you check her out!

Now we’ll be jumping into my ennegram! So I’ll be listing the traits of my ennegram, and then I’ll say whether they relate to me or not!

My Ennegram – Type 3

Core Desire – To Be Successful

100% this is me! I have ambitious dreams and I know I really want to achieve them and I’m willing to work for them. Those dreams are kind of what I’ll class my ‘success’ as. Obviously, there’s so much more to success but yes being successful is definitely a core desire of mine!

The Achiever

I definitely agree with being an Achiever. I always strive to do my best at everything and work hard. I guess because I know what I want in life, I push myself to achieve my dreams (a bit similar to what I said about being successful) So yes, I definitely agree with this one!

Driven and Energetic

Anybody who knows me personally knows how energetic I can come (I’m a child at heart!) especially through being talkative and chatting a lot!

In terms of driven (I’ve already mentioned this so much in this post) but yes I’m very driven – especially with an end goal and dreams in mind!

Strengths – Confident, Charming, Accomplished

Confident, I like to think so! I think especially when doing things such as public speaking I’m quite confident. Also, just in daily life, I’m quite confident trying new things and I’m not afraid to – even if embarrassment comes out of it. Believe me when I say I get embarrassed a lot!

For charming, I wasn’t too sure so I actually had to look up the definition. The official definition is ‘very pleasant or attractive.’ I like to think of myself as quite pleasant towards others. In terms of attractive, I have no idea, haha!

I would like to say I’m accomplished, but I’m only in my early teens so I still have a long way to go. So, no I’m not accomplished right now, but I’d like to be!

Challenges – Prone To Burnout, Values Results, Concerned With Image

I definitely did used to be prone to burnout and honestly I’m still working on it. I think one of the challenges of being driven is that you’ll overwork yourself – and I definitely did during school. That’s why this summer I’m trying not to do my schoolwork straight away to allow myself time to relax!

Valuing results is another thing I’m working on. To be super honest with you all, I used to be super upset (sometimes even cry if I got anything below 70% in school). My dad then showed me something called: The Yerkes-Dodson Curve showing the correlation between performance and pressure and it’s honestly helped me so much! Don’t get me wrong, I’m still improving on this, and I’m still trying to remind yourself it’s not about the grade, it’s about working to the best of your ability, and whatever happens, happens! Also, if you’d like me to do a post on the Yerkes-Dodson Curve, let me know. It’s something I’d love to chat more about!

For being concerned with image, I’m very lucky to say I honestly don’t really struggle with this. Maybe it’s the fact that I don’t always use social media, but I’m very thankful to say I’m not always concerned with my image. Of course, there will be days where I doubt myself, but overall I have a really positive outlook on my image which I’m so grateful to have, because I know some people don’t!

Also, if you are concerned with image and are in need of support, please check out Young Minds as they’ve got great support available!

Seems like everyone’s blogging about the Enneagram lately! I saw Maryam’s post a few weeks ago, and I’d been planning for a while to talk about it (I actually posted mine yesterday), and now you! It’s great to see people utilizing it and telling others about how it works. Loved this post!

I took the Truity test. I’m a three or eight. Seems to be pretty accurate.
Great post!! I had never heard of Ennegrams before, so this was helpful.

Thank you for the mention lovely Zainab! I always enjoy learning more about you. The enneagram is such a fascinating personal development tool, providing so much clarity when it comes to these big questions in life and about ourselves. I would say you definitely fit a type three! As you probably remember I’m a four, haha.

The Yerkes Dodson curve I’m not familiar with so gaining a better understanding of that I’m certainly interested in. I’ve seen people talk about wings when it comes to their enneagram.. I’ve never gotten that deep so don’t know what mine is! Have you heard of this? x

Thanks for reading Maryam💗 I’ll definitely try to write more about the Yerkes Dodson Curve!

I keep hearing about wings but like you I haven’t gone that deep either, I think it’s like extra traits? But I could be wrong 😂
