Why Engaging With Other Blog’s Is Beneficial To Yours

Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to the blog! So, today’s post is going to be another blogging advice post and I’ll be sharing why Engagement works both ways in the blogging world and how it can benefit you!

What Happens When You Don’t Engage With Other Blogs?

So, for a brief period (quite recently, actually) I was still posting regularly but I got little to no engagement on my posts. I was trying to work out why, but then I realised. I was just scheduling posts on the weekend and just let them come out during the week – it was like a robotic system. I didn’t even take 5 minutes out of my time to look at WP Reader every now again, and that’s how my engagement got so low.

I’m not saying numbers are everything, but when you publish a post you want people to enjoy it and chat to you in your comments, that won’t happen unless you chat in their comments. Obviously you can’t engage 24/7 but even just 5 minutes every day is beneficial because remember engagement works both ways!

The Benefits Of Engaging With Other Blogs

Of course, there are so many benefits to engaging with other blogs – here are just a few!

  • You Will Get Inspiration For Your Own Posts (Just make sure you credit the original writer)
  • You Will Be Able To Share Your Own Posts With Other People
  • You Can Meet A Whole New Community Of People!

Thank you so much for reading this post (or should I say engaging, haha!) Let me know some of your favourite blogging tips in the comments!

3 Things You Should Do When Planning A Blog Interview

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here, welcome or welcome back to the blog! I’ve had the pleasure of getting to do quite a few interviews this year – and I get a lot of questions about how to conduct them (I’ve done a whole post on that here!) But another one I get asked is what you should do when you’re planning the interview. Well, I’ll be sharing what to do today, let’s jump into the post!

Have A Look At Their Previous Interviews

Looking at the interviewee’s previous interviews will allow you to see roughly how they answer questions!

Are they long or short answers? Detailed or vague answers?

All of these factors will help you figure out how many questions you should answer and whether you should ask questions for deep responses or not!

Research Through Their Social Media

As said in my previous post, research is definitely key to the interview questions, so you understand more about the person. But, I would say, when doing research, try using their social media instead of something like Wikipedia! Because, their social media is personal to them, you can see any external projects or interests they have that could become really interesting talking points in the interview!

Have A Main Theme In Mind

If you can only find a few talking points, keep those as your main theme and part of the title! That way, people know what’s coming in the interview, and you can elaborate specifically on that topic by asking follow up questions to continue the conversation!

Thanks so much for reading this post – I hope it was helpful for anybody that wants to start doing blog interviews. Let me know if you’ll start doing them too, I’d love to see your posts!

Three Online Tools To Help Beginner Bloggers

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here, welcome or welcome back to the blog! For today’s post, I thought I’d share some online tools that can help beginner bloggers when they start blogging. I’ve done a similar post before, but I thought I’d do an updated version – let’s jump into it!

Canva

Canva is a free graphic design platform that allows you to create logos, graphics etc! It’s great for the beginning of launching a blog when you want to create a simple logo, brand and your colour palette! I will say, if you want to use a logo template on there, that’s great! But playing around on Canva will allow you to make your logo more unique so less people will be able to have the exact same or very similar logos to use!

Unsplash

Unsplash is a website where you can get free stock photos (as long as you credit the photographer) for your blog. It’s great because unless you have a passion for photography, when you start blogging – getting great blog photos is really tough, so this is a great alternative while you figure out your blog photography style. Or if photography just isn’t really your thing, you can use the photos to spice up your blog posts!

Google Calendar

Google Calendar is a great way to organise your writing process when you first start out! You can plan when you’ll publish and post on your blog – so you can be the most efficient with your blog. This especially helps if you’re working or you’re in school!

I hope you all enjoyed this post, thank you for reading! Please share in the comments what you used to help your blog when you started blogging to help some other bloggers!

How Art Can Increase Your Positivity

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here, welcome or welcome back to the blog! For today’s post, I’m going to be doing a positivity post – which for some reason I feel like I haven’t written in a while! This post will be discussing how art can help increase positivity and wellbeing. Let’s jump into it!

It Can Relive Stress

Whether it’s scribbles or splattering paint, creating art relives stress as you’re putting all your emotions onto paper and they aren’t inside you anymore! If you don’t believe me, there’s an article linked here saying that during 45 minutes of art, 75% of participants cortisol (stress hormones) levels lowered!

It Gives You Something To Channel Your Energy Into

A lot of people feel unmotivated because they might not feel good at something or not have something to do. Well, whether you’re good at art or not, it can become your hobby and it really allows you to be able to do something fun and to help your motivation too!

It Adds More Creativity To Your Surroundings

We all need to spice up our room decor every now and again – art is the perfect opportunity to fulfil that desire! The best part is, it doesn’t even matter how your art looks because it’s such a unique thing for everyone.

Thank you so much for reading this post – I tried to keep it simple so it would be easier to read and you can spend more time actually doing the art! I personally also lov9e looking at Art too – and there are so many creators these days, I’m linking my favourite underrated artist on Tiktok (@artby_zahra) whose a self taught artist with original content which you should definitely check out (this post is actually a collaboration with her!) Let me know in the comments your favourite artists!

How Using BlogR Can Benefit Your Blog + The Blogging World!

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here – welcome or welcome back to the blog! I’m very excited to be writing this post because about a week ago, the BlogR official platform launched! For anybody that doesn’t know, BlogR is a platform that allows you to find the blogs you love (to learn more check out my interview with the founder here!) and their launch has provided assistance for us: the bloggers! So, I thought I’d share why BlogR is super useful for us (also this isn’t sponsored, writing this post is genuinely my decision.) Let’s jump into it!

Graphic Designed By BlogR Founder On Instagram

BlogR is another source of growth for your blog

The amazing thing about BlogR, is you can upload all your blog posts on there for the whole community to see. There are quite a few categories to post them on so people can easily find you. BlogR also redirects readers to your blog website so they can follow you!

You can exchange ideas through messaging other community bloggers

This is one of my favourite features of BlogR – through messaging, you can talk about blog posts, ideas and maybe even collaborations! Of course Instagram DM is an option, but since BlogR is specifically just for bloggers, you’ll know you’re chatting to the right people which I absolutely love!

You can find the blogs you actually want to read

We all know sometimes when we search a blog category on google we aren’t always going to find the relevant blogs. So, I love that BlogR has solved this problem. You really will be reading the information you want to read!

Thank you so much for reading this post guys (apologies for it being quite short, school is starting again soon and I’m trying to focus on some last minute work!) make sure you check out my Interview With The BlogR Founder: Angel and my profile on BlogR! Comment if you’re joining BlogR, I’d love to see you there!

400 Followers Special – Answering Your Questions

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here, welcome or welcome back to Zainab Chats. I’m so excited for this post because, we’ve reached 400 followers! Thank you so much for all the love and support – to celebrate, I’ll be doing a Q&A as I haven’t done one for a while and I’ve had a lot of new faces around here lately. I asked via my blog comments as well as Instagram and any award questions I’ve been tagged for, so let’s jump into the questions!

If you could be anywhere in the world right now (other than where you currently are), where would you be?
I really had to think about the answer for this question, but probably Japan. The culture there seems really interesting and I do karate so it would be cool to train in the country where it comes from!

Which celebrity (living or dead) would you like to meet?
That’s also super hard because there’s so many! I’d probably say Marcus Rashford though because everything he’s done for child food poverty causes is really inspiring (and not to mention he plays for my favourite football team!)

How do you come up with the questions to ask the people you interview?
A great question! All I can say is, a lot of research is required. Even if the person you’ve interviewed has got only one interesting trait, you just have to find things to say and link it to them! For example, someone I’d like to interview I’ve found out is actually vegan.
So, if I do manage to interview them, I could ask questions such as ‘What prompted your decision to go vegan?’ ‘How do you think veganism has impacted you and the environment?’ etc! Remember, even the smallest details can deliver the greatest answers!

Your favourite genre of books/movies?
My favourite genre of books are teen, modern thrillers. I really enjoy them because they’re relatable to me and relevant to things I might experience but they still have that mystery element!

In terms of movies, I love all things Rom-Coms. They’re so fun to watch and honestly, although the majority of them have very similar plots (mainly love triangles) , it’s cool to see what each movie does differently!

Why did you choose this niche, and what are your tips for establishing a solid reader base?
So, I chose the niche: positivity, because I know especially for teenagers, it’s really hard to maintain a positive mindset therefore I want to try and help as much as possible!

For establishing a solid reader base, I would say consistency is the key! I know everyone says that, but with consistency, your readers will be able to come back to your posts. Also, if you want more tips, check out my Top 5 Blog Growth Tips post

What’s your go-to breakfast?
That’s actually quite an easy question! I always have either Coco Pops or Rice Pops for breakfast. To be honest, I’ve had them for breakfast for so many years, maybe I should vary my choices, haha!

How/when did you realise your love for journalism?
A great question! So, I’ve always wanted to be a TV Presenter of my own show (anybody who knows me, knows that’s still my end goal!) but I realised it’s not that simple and did some research and learned journalism is the best way to get into that sort of career. After doing more research, I actually realized how much I enjoyed journalism, and it wasn’t just something I needed to do for my dream anymore and I found it super interesting. That’s why I’ve tried to implement more posts to do with journalism into the blog (e.g my interviews!)

Who has been your favourite person to interview or collab with?
My favourite person to interview has probably been Alexandra Chaves. She was one of the first people I interviewed, and she was so lovely and kind to talk to – we actually still talk sometimes on Instagram! I actually do have another favourite person I’ve interviewed but their interview hasn’t gone live yet and it’s a super exciting one (so stay tuned for that!)

Thank you so much for reading this blog post, and thank you for 400 followers. I appreciate this so much! Let me know in the comments your plans for the rest of the summer!

My Interview On The Blogger Up Series

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here, welcome or welcome back to Zainab Chats! Today’s blog post is slightly different as I got the lovely opportunity to be interviewed by Nabeeha Jameel from the Brainstorms blog – so today I’ll be sharing my interview with you all! Be sure to check out the original post here and give Nabeeha a follow, now let’s jump into Nabeeha’s interview! from the Blogger Up Series! (Nabeeha’s questions are in bold!)

1. When did you start Zainab Chats, and what inspired you to?

I started Zainab Chats in April 2020. (I started at about the same time too, after being devastated and confused after my O-level Examinations got cancelled) I actually had a previous blog on Blogger called: Z.H Blogs but I really just wanted to rebrand – we were in the middle of lockdown and I couldn’t see us coming out any time soon so I decided to start Zainab Chats to spread positivity to others! (YAY🎊!)

2. I really like the whole aesthetic of your blog. What theme have you used?

Thank you so much! I use the free WordPress theme: Canape

3. Does your blog focus on a specific niche?

I mainly focus on Positivity but I also do other niche-related posts such as Reviews, Study Tips and Lifestyle!

4. Throughout your blogging journey what is one thing that has been a constant challenge?

I’m very thankful my blogging journey hasn’t been much of a challenge. However, one thing that has been a challenge (not specifically about my own blog) but it’s been keeping up with other people’s blogs. Through school and other activities I find it quite difficult to consistently go through WordPress Reader and read other people’s lovely blogs. It’s not a challenge I’ve fully overcome but I’m getting there! (I can relate, but my constant struggle mostly revolves around being consistent with my posts and keeping up with life at the same time😬)

5. I noticed that Zainab Chats has an Instagram account. How has the Instagram account helped with your blogging journey?

The Instagram account really helped me grow my blog in the beginning. Now, I tend to focus less on growth and use the account to interact more with my followers which is not something I can really do in the comments of blog posts.

6. What is your favourite post on Zainab Chats and Why?

That’s such a hard question, but I’d have to say my 100 Followers Special as it was such a big moment for me and I honestly never thought I’d get there. It was also a fun post as I got to react to people’s assumptions about me! (The satisfaction when you reach a 100 followers is indescribable! I cannot wait for your blog to reach 1K!)

7. Where do you see your blog three years from now?

Three years from now, I hope to have grown by blog and to be posting a lot more than twice a week. I don’t like to predict too much as things can change but I hope I’m still blogging and have a lovely community

8. What is the favourite thing you own and why?

I’d have to say my Bullet Journal – it really lets me plan my days so much more efficiently then a regular planner. I’ve actually almost finished it so I’ll be getting a new one soon!

9. Any secret talents that no one knows about?

Honestly, I don’t think so – I’m a pretty open book! (😂 Great!)

10. Imagine you met the Genie, what are the three things you would wish for?

I’d probably wish for: World Peace, A Happy Family and for Others to be happy too!

Be sure to check out Nabeeha’s blog, and other then that, thank you so much for reading! I hope you learned a bit more about me!

How You Can Conduct Blog Interviews

Hey everyone it’s Zainab, welcome or welcome back to Zainab Chats! Today, I’m responding to a lot of your requests – a lot of people have asked me to share how I conduct blog interviews. So I’ll be sharing that today!

Figure Out Who You’d Like To Interview
This step is probably the easiest one out of this whole process. I’m sure there is a long list of people you’d want to interview but unfortunately, the more popular they are, the harder they are to get. So, my biggest tip is to write a list of people who would be influential to your blog followers based on your niche.

For example, my blog’s main niche is: Positivity. Therefore, I try and get people to be interviewed on my blog if they have a strong message of Positivity!

Find Their Public Contact Details
For some people such as Bloggers or Youtubers, it would be easy to find their contact information by looking at their ‘About’ sections. However, for much bigger celebrities it is much harder to find their contact details So, I would say to have a look at their social media pages to see if any emails are linked there!

Reach Out To Them
The final step is to write them a great email convincing them why they should be interviewed. A rough idea would be to include, why they should be interviewed and how they can benefit your readers!

If they agree to the interview, make sure you ask them questions about previous projects, positive things they’ve done – and most importantly, ask them questions that your readers can benefit from their answers!

Thanks so much for reading this post everyone, I hope you found this post useful. Let me know what you thought and maybe for another post I can share a template to reach out for interviews!
