Here Are 4 Careers That Blogging Can Lead You To

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here, welcome or welcome back to Zainab Chats! How has everyone been? On WordPress Reader, I recently saw a post written by Sara Flower Kjeldsen in which she shares the skills you can sharpen through blogging. (Read the blog post here). That post helped me draw inspiration for this post, in which I’ll be sharing what careers blogging could possibly lead you to!

Blogging is very versatile, and everyone’s content differs – so each person could gain experience for different careers all while blogging. But, I thought it would be interesting to see how the blogging experience is universal and some people can be lead to the exact same careers. Let’s jump into it!

Full Time Blogger / Influencer

This one is the obvious starter. But, if you feel like you’re reaching the point in your blogging career where you’ve grown quite a bit and you have brands and other companies wanting to partner with you, it might be time to consider full time blogging. Being a full time blogger/influencer is great as you’ll be able to choose your hours and choose what you do during your working day (it will probably be what you’re already doing!)

Another benefit of this is that it doesn’t have to be a full time career. While you may be working another job, you could take on a few brand deals or monetize your blog through ads which can also help with your living. Which could lead you into branching out to other platforms such as Youtube or a Podcast that could convince you to become a blogger full time.

Journalist

Being a journalist is another very common career for past bloggers. Mainly because, a lot of people actually set up their blogs so they can gain journalism experience (I know quite a few people who have done this).

Blogging is usually the preferred choice for anyone who wants to enter the journalism industry with experience as they can do it on their own time, write about what they want to write and they can do it in their own way. Also, it’s really nice to have your own platform with all your articles rather than your articles on someone else’s websites – and it’s a great addition to your CV!

A lot of media companies may have specific views on certain issues too, so blogging allows the blogger to share their on genuine opinions without being tied to a specific organisation.

Author

This is something I wouldn’t have thought of until I actually joined the blogging community myself. But, a lot of bloggers are also aspiring authors – which now I think about it, makes a lot of sense! Blogging allows future authors to gain more writing experience and experiment with styles, all while getting pretty quick feedback through comments. So, it’s really useful in progressing further and further into writing.

One thing I really enjoy seeing is when bloggers write stories and fictional pieces in blog posts. Especially when they release a chapter at a time because it’s so fun to see them speaking with their readers in the comments. And eventually, the blogger might actually be able to publish their book, whether it be self publish or a publisher comes across their story!

Either way, a blog can be an incredible tool for aspiring authors, and could help them get their big break, maybe even earlier than expected?

Entrepreneur

Like I said previously, a benefit of blogging is that you can be your own boss. And that can lead you down the road to entrepreneurship which also, again, means you can be your own boss! If you think about it, a blogger and entrepreneur need to have very similar skillsets.

  • Keep on top of trends
  • Be innovative
  • Come up with new content / ideas
  • Be well-versed in promotion

And more! Many influencers start businesses advertising to their already established audience so they can eventually grow into a huge company. Look at Brooklyn and Bailey’s skincare brand or Logan Paul and Ksi’s drink brand. All of them did the exact same thing and their companies are becoming hugelt successful.

How You Can Come Up With New Blog Content Ideas

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here, welcome or welcome back to my blog! Today’s post, is going to be me addressing the hardest thing for bloggers: coming up with new content. Every blogger will have times where they cannot think of posts or new content. I struggle with this a lot. So, I’ll be sharing a few tips on how I come up with new ideas!

Look Back At Your Blog Archives

Looking at your blog archives is a great way of seeing the kind of content you used to write for the blog, and you can maybe rewrite some posts – but in a better way now that your blog has evolved! Obviously, if you’ve had a whole niche rebrand then you may not be able to do this completely, but you can still look at old posts and see if you can get ideas from them or redo them!

Think About What Holidays or Events Are Coming Up

Holidays and events are universal, and they really help boost your content ideas because you can get inspiration from the event or what other people do for the event. For example, my recent post about Self Love was written in February because that was the month of Valentine’s Day.

Have A Series To Get Readers Involved

There are sort of two parts to this. A series is very useful as it’s continuous so it will always allow you to keep similar posts publishing on a regular basis. And the next part is to keep readers involved, this way they can always be feeding back to you on content they’d like to see and how to improve your blog!

Draw Inspiration From the WordPress Reader

I always talk about the WordPress Reader as it’s the best way to get inspiration. There’s nothing wrong at getting ideas from someone else (but please make sure you give credit!) For example, I actually got the idea for the first tip in this post from Natalie Belle’s Blog, so go check out her wonderful posts! I tend to look through my ‘following’ and also the ‘discover’ page on the reader because I see content from people I know and also content I hadn’t thought of before!

Look At Trends From Other Social Media Platforms

Social Media platforms such as Instagram and Youtube also have bloggers and other creators. And trends on those platforms tend to grow much more then blog trends. So if you see a trend on Youtube, why not make it into a blog post? You can get people involved and it would be super fun for you!

I hope this post was useful for you all, I know it will be for future me! If you have any other tips for coming up with new content – please comment it down below to help others.

How You Can Balance Blogging With Your Life

Hey everyone it’s Zainab, welcome or welcome back! So, a lot of us bloggers can sometimes find it very challenging to balance blogging with our personal lives – school, work etc. As I’ve been blogging for almost two years now, I have an idea of how to maintain a balance, so I’ll be sharing these tips today!

Choose A Suitable Amount Of Posts For One Week

On every blog, a certain amount of posts go out each week. Some do one a week, some do a post every day. But, if you have a very busy personal life, then you’re better off choosing one post a week or maybe two a week, just so you don’t feel the pressure of writing too many posts and neglecting school, plans with others etc! Also, be sure to pick what day of the week and the time they go out.

Pick One Day To Bulk Write The Week’s Posts

Once you’ve decided how many posts to write and when they go out, you need to write them. Of course, you could just write them on the day they go out – but that goes back to a balance again. You don’t want to be stressing about your posts, because you still have a private life outside of blogging. I’d recommend choosing one day a week to bulk write that week’s posts (if you’ve read my other blogging advice posts, you’ll know I always include this tip.) For me, it’s every Sunday because I never do anything on a Sunday!

Use The Scheduling Feature

This tip is key to balance your personal life. Once you’ve written the week’s posts, you can schedule them to go out on the chosen date/ time! I love this feature because then I don’t necessarily have to be on WP or my blog for the post to be published, if I’m busy doing something else.

If you don’t know how to schedule posts on a laptop, on the right hand side click on post, and under status and visibility click on the publish date and choose from there!

On the app, click on the three dots in the top right hand corner, choose post settings, and then schedule for, and then pick the date and time!

I hope these steps have been useful to allow you to still enjoy the blogging process, while not being stressed with it interfering with your personal life – because blogging should be fun! Let me know in the comments your tips to balance blogging, I’d love to hear them.

How You Can Conduct Blog Interviews

Hey everyone it’s Zainab, welcome or welcome back to Zainab Chats! Today, I’m responding to a lot of your requests – a lot of people have asked me to share how I conduct blog interviews. So I’ll be sharing that today!

Figure Out Who You’d Like To Interview
This step is probably the easiest one out of this whole process. I’m sure there is a long list of people you’d want to interview but unfortunately, the more popular they are, the harder they are to get. So, my biggest tip is to write a list of people who would be influential to your blog followers based on your niche.

For example, my blog’s main niche is: Positivity. Therefore, I try and get people to be interviewed on my blog if they have a strong message of Positivity!

Find Their Public Contact Details
For some people such as Bloggers or Youtubers, it would be easy to find their contact information by looking at their ‘About’ sections. However, for much bigger celebrities it is much harder to find their contact details So, I would say to have a look at their social media pages to see if any emails are linked there!

Reach Out To Them
The final step is to write them a great email convincing them why they should be interviewed. A rough idea would be to include, why they should be interviewed and how they can benefit your readers!

If they agree to the interview, make sure you ask them questions about previous projects, positive things they’ve done – and most importantly, ask them questions that your readers can benefit from their answers!

Thanks so much for reading this post everyone, I hope you found this post useful. Let me know what you thought and maybe for another post I can share a template to reach out for interviews!

5 Tips For Beginner Bloggers To Get Started In The Blogging World

Hey everyone it’s Zainab, welcome or welcome back to Zainab Chats! Today, I really wanted to share some more tips for beginner bloggers. I then realised, I did a guest post about this on Brianna Marie’s Blog! Just in case you haven’t seen that post, today I’m sharing tips for beginner bloggers to get started in the blogging world – let’s jump into it!

Pick An Easy Platform
There are many blogging platforms but a lot of them can be complex! I would say if you’re just starting out, the best platform is Blogger! It’s really simple to use and all you need is a Google account to get started! If you find that using Blogger gets a bit too easy for you after a while, you can then switch to another platform like WordPress.

Pick Some Niches
Niches are basically categories or hfor your blog. Some of the most popular ones are: Lifestyle, Fashion and Fitness! I would recommend you pick two or three as it’s hard to post so many blog posts if you have just picked one niche!

Find Some Blogs To Follow In Your Niche
There are so many great blogs out there so be sure to find a couple of blogs that are in your niche and interact with them! This will allow you to, make blogging friends, get some post inspiration (make sure you give credit!) and since you’re in the same niche they will probably be interested in your blog too!

Creating A Matching Social Media Account
Having a matching social media account is crucial for you to grow in the beginning. When I started and I only had around 10 followers, social media really allowed me to build up my audience and that’s where a majority of my traffic came from in the beginning! Another great thing about it, is that it allows you to interact with your followers more!

Produce Some Content
So this one goes without saying, but once you have done all the above steps, produce some content! You can find some great inspiration from blogs you follow (again, make sure you give credit) and Pinterest is another great source!

Thanks for reading this guys, I really hope you learned something from this post. Let me know your tips in the comments!

How To Take The Best Blog Photos

Hey everyone it’s Zainab, welcome or welcome back to Zainab Chats! Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of comments about my blog photography and the photos I take. So, I thought today I’d share how I’d take them as they’re actually really simple to take and you do not have to be professional photographer. Let’s jump into it!

What You Need:
An Item Or Items To Take Photos Of (These could be anything around your room that would just look pretty!)
A Camera (I personally use my phone, you could use a proper camera or even an iPad camera)
The Free Adobe Lightroom App

Steps:
1) Arrange your items on a plain background -this could be a blanket, a wall or your desk! – arrange them in a random order but so they fit together at the same time
2) Take a picture of them with your camera – take a couple from different angles just incase.
3) Open the Lightroom app, and import the photos you’ve taken and edit them. On the app, you can change the lighting, exposure, colour theory and more!
4) If you don’t want to spend too much time editing, the Lightroom Community has some free presets you can use and then tweak the photo from there. I personally have made my own preset!
5) Export the photos and open them into the WordPress app and add them to the post!

Examples Using These Steps:

These photos were taken using the steps above. As you can see, you can use random items to create flatlays! I’ve used my desk and plains blankets as backgrounds. For the photo on the right, those gold circles are magnets – so you can really use anything!

So, that was the method I use to take my blog photos. I hope this has been useful to anybody who wants to up their photography game. Let me know in the comments how you take your photos!

Blogger’s Confessions With Isabella Kate

Hi everyone, it’s Zainab, welcome or welcome back to Zainab Chats! Today, I’m going to interview the lovely Isabella from Isabella Kate Blog and the Isabella Kate Youtube Channel! Let’s jump right into the questions!

  1. Hey Isabella, thanks so much for agreeing to be interviewed on my blog! For anybody who doesn’t know you, why don’t you explain a bit about your content creating to my readers
Hi Zainab! Thank you so much for having me, it’s truly an honour! Hi everyone! My name is Isabella (or Izzy haha), and I am the creator of my blog and YouTube channel named Isabella Kate, and my Instagram, @isabellakateblog. I’ve had a love for online creating ever since i was 10 when I made my first private blog, and now I’m 14. I want to work in digital media and social media management when I’m older, so this is really helping me grow in that.
  2. All of your platforms have quite a number of followers; what would you say is your biggest growth tip for aspiring content creators or creators that are looking to grow?
My biggest growth tip would simply be consistency. It is so important for you to be consistent as your followers will see you a lot more if you are. Take Instagram, for example. The algorithm strongly prefers when you post more often, as that will give you a chance to get in people’s feeds more as the algorithm constantly changes. Consistency can be hard, but it’s so worth it.
  3. You started your content creating journey with a blog and then moved to Youtube and Instagram. What made you want to expand your platforms further and which of your platforms would you like to see grow the most?
I started off simply blogging when I was younger, and writing isn’t my strongest suit, so I really wanted to try some different platforms to see how I would do on those. I’ve always loved watching Youtubers from a young age, and I think that really made me want to do YouTube more. I started a private YouTube channel back when I had a private blog, so I got some experience before actually putting my content out into the world. I would really like to see my Instagram grow the most, as it’s what I’m most passionate for and truly have a love for.
  4. Having both a Youtube Channel and a Blog can be hard to balance; especially with school? How do you manage to balance all of your content as well as keep up with school work and try to grow at the same time. What would you say to others who are trying to grow but also are still in school?
This is so hard. As a student who just started high school this year, it’s definitely been an adjustment. I really just work a lot on my blogging, YouTube, and Instagram when I’m not doing school. I haven’t always managed it all the best, but working hard at attaining that has been one of my main goals for the semester. I would really say to others, time management is your best friend. If you waste a lot of time, which is honestly natural and inevitable, try to motivate yourself to become productive during those empty time spaces. Also, pre-planning has completely changed my social media game. Whether it’s getting ready an Instagram post and a caption ready, planning my feed, or planning out my YouTube videos for the next 1-2 months, having a solid plan has really helped me. Just be yourself, give yourself breaks, and don’t be too hard on yourself! You’ve got this!!

Thank you so much to Isabella for agreeing to be interviewed – check out all of her links here- and thank you guys for reading this post; I hope you’ve enjoyed. Let me know in the comments what you would like to see next!

Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Blogging

Hey guys it’s Zainab! I get so many questions about blogging and my advice for people new to the blogging world and today I want to share some tips for new bloggers and what I wish I knew before I started blogging!

Quality Not Quantity
This is literally something I used to never understand however instead of writing long blog posts that people will be put off to read, why don’t you write less with more meaningful ideas?

Images Are Key
Like I said previously, people usually are put off by seeing long paragraphs and posts, so adding some nice photos will not only contibue to SEO of the post, but it will engage readers more!

Use Tags
For anybody that doesn’t know what tags are, they are basically words that you want your posts to come up for if you search for your post. If you really want to grow your blog from the beginning, using tags are so important, if you don’t use them at the beginning, it can effect your blog’s SEO in later stages.

Only Use Your Own Photos

Like I said previously, images are key, but I can’t stress enough to not use photos from google! If you use photos from google, there’s a chance you could be copyrighted, so it’s best to just use your own photos!

Have A Theme / Aesthetic
Having a constant and consistent theme is really important if you want to ‘brand’ yourself or your blog! This really helps if you want everything to contrast.

Interact With Your Followers
This is something I didn’t learn for a very long time, but it’s so important to interact with followers! You can learn more about them and their blog, and you can also help eachother grow as blogger friends!

Well that’s everything I wish I knew, I hope this helps, comment below your tips!

How To Balance Blogging And School

Hello everyone it’s Zainab! I get a lot of questions on how I balance blogging and school so today I want to share how I do that!

Have A Schedule
Having a schedule will allow you to prioritise parts of the day for school and parts of it to blog. If you set aside an hour straight after school for revision then you can prioritise the rest of the day for writing blog posts and organising your blog.

Spend The Weekend
If you’re quite big on school like me, instead of spending the week blogging you can spend the weekend blogging! This is great so you can spend school days revising and the weekend blogging!

Prioritise Which Is Important
In this part you really have to think what’s important. If you want to have a very academically focused life when you’re older, you may want to spend more time in school. Whereas if your goal is to me a full time blogger maybe you should spend more time on your blog!

Thank you guys so much for reading, let me know how you balance blogging and school in the comments!
