Here Are 4 Careers That Blogging Can Lead You To

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here, welcome or welcome back to Zainab Chats! How has everyone been? On WordPress Reader, I recently saw a post written by Sara Flower Kjeldsen in which she shares the skills you can sharpen through blogging. (Read the blog post here). That post helped me draw inspiration for this post, in which I’ll be sharing what careers blogging could possibly lead you to!

Blogging is very versatile, and everyone’s content differs – so each person could gain experience for different careers all while blogging. But, I thought it would be interesting to see how the blogging experience is universal and some people can be lead to the exact same careers. Let’s jump into it!

Full Time Blogger / Influencer

This one is the obvious starter. But, if you feel like you’re reaching the point in your blogging career where you’ve grown quite a bit and you have brands and other companies wanting to partner with you, it might be time to consider full time blogging. Being a full time blogger/influencer is great as you’ll be able to choose your hours and choose what you do during your working day (it will probably be what you’re already doing!)

Another benefit of this is that it doesn’t have to be a full time career. While you may be working another job, you could take on a few brand deals or monetize your blog through ads which can also help with your living. Which could lead you into branching out to other platforms such as Youtube or a Podcast that could convince you to become a blogger full time.

Journalist

Being a journalist is another very common career for past bloggers. Mainly because, a lot of people actually set up their blogs so they can gain journalism experience (I know quite a few people who have done this).

Blogging is usually the preferred choice for anyone who wants to enter the journalism industry with experience as they can do it on their own time, write about what they want to write and they can do it in their own way. Also, it’s really nice to have your own platform with all your articles rather than your articles on someone else’s websites – and it’s a great addition to your CV!

A lot of media companies may have specific views on certain issues too, so blogging allows the blogger to share their on genuine opinions without being tied to a specific organisation.

Author

This is something I wouldn’t have thought of until I actually joined the blogging community myself. But, a lot of bloggers are also aspiring authors – which now I think about it, makes a lot of sense! Blogging allows future authors to gain more writing experience and experiment with styles, all while getting pretty quick feedback through comments. So, it’s really useful in progressing further and further into writing.

One thing I really enjoy seeing is when bloggers write stories and fictional pieces in blog posts. Especially when they release a chapter at a time because it’s so fun to see them speaking with their readers in the comments. And eventually, the blogger might actually be able to publish their book, whether it be self publish or a publisher comes across their story!

Either way, a blog can be an incredible tool for aspiring authors, and could help them get their big break, maybe even earlier than expected?

Entrepreneur

Like I said previously, a benefit of blogging is that you can be your own boss. And that can lead you down the road to entrepreneurship which also, again, means you can be your own boss! If you think about it, a blogger and entrepreneur need to have very similar skillsets.

  • Keep on top of trends
  • Be innovative
  • Come up with new content / ideas
  • Be well-versed in promotion

And more! Many influencers start businesses advertising to their already established audience so they can eventually grow into a huge company. Look at Brooklyn and Bailey’s skincare brand or Logan Paul and Ksi’s drink brand. All of them did the exact same thing and their companies are becoming hugelt successful.

Thank you so much for reading this post, it was really interesting for me to compile. I’m sure I could research more and do a part 2 so let me know if that’s something you’d like to see!

Here Are The Benefits & Skills Gained As A Teen Blogger

Hey everyone it’s Zainab, welcome or welcome back! In my last blog post, I talked about the challenges being a teen blogger to shine a light on some of the difficulties, but of course this is a positivity blog so today I’ll be sharing the benefits and skills as a teen blogger. Let’s jump into it!

You Gain Different Writing Skills

This is the most obvious skill gained from blogging. Blogging allows you to really develop your writing skills and you can also work on different styles. Whether it’s formal or informal, you’re gaining valuable experience that you could use on your CV/resume in the future!

You Gain Some Website Building Skills

Website building is something not a lot of young people have, and even though building a WordPress website is quite easy as you get support, young bloggers will still get that basic understanding and can put them on your CV/Resume too.

You Gain Communication/Business Skills

If you decide to do blog interviews or work with brands, your gaining valuable employability skills that can be so beneficial in the future, and can help you grow and mature professionally faster.

You Interact With A Diverse Group Of People

One of the best things about blogging is you meet a variety of people. I’m so privileged to have met people from so many different backgrounds and experiences and it’s really cool and humbling in a way to meet people with such unique stories!

You Can become Better At Time Management/Organising

As I said in my last post, teen bloggers can find it very difficult to balance. But when you get through it, that’s such a great skill to have. Being able to keep organised when you have a lot going on is such a great skill to have.

Thank you so much for reading this blog post, I had a lot of fun writing this. If you know any other benefits – share them in the comments!

Here Are The Challenges Of Being A Teen Blogger

Hey everyone, it’s Zainab, welcome or welcome back to my blog! When thinking about what to write about today, I realised that blogging as a young person is incredibly hard, and not a lot of people realise that. So, I thought I’d write this post for people to see the reality of being a teen blogger – of course these are the challenges for any blogger, but as I’m young these will be a bit more specific. Let’s jump into it!

You Feel Like You’re Not Being Taken Seriously

I feel like this isn’t just a teen blogger problem, it’s something most young people go through. When young people decide to do something some people may think you won’t stick to it, or it’s just a little hobby. And that’s really disheartening if you want to blog consistently. Or it might be you want to interview someone or do a brand collaboration and the person doesn’t think you’re serious because you’re young.

You Could Be Pushed Too Much

On the flip side, you might only want to blog for a couple of months and people may be expecting too much from you. It could be parents wanting you to keep going, or a brand asking to do more than you should as a young person. There’s definitely pros and cons to expectations as a young blogger!

Balancing Is A Challenge

I think any blogger who isn’t a full time blogger will understand the difficulty. If you volunteer, go to school, have a part time job etc blogging can be very hard to consistently keep up with. But, I’d say trying your best is all that matters, especially if you’re young, because it’s likely most of your audience is in the same boat!

Read My Post About Balancing Blogging With Your Life

You Feel Like Your Audience Isn’t Truly Authentic

Any young blogger will know that when they blog, a lot of views and follows come from family and friends you know in real life, especially in the beginning. And when this happened to me, I did question how much of my audience I had actually grown by myself, which a lot of people may relate to. Regardless, any support is appreciated!

Managing A Website Is Confusing

This is probably the hardest thing for any newbie blogger – but especially new young bloggers. Creating websites is never really taught in school, so creating a blog website and managing it can be so confusing. I’ve been doing this for 2 years and I still don’t know how to fully build my blog properly! I think if this was taught in school lessons or there were courses for young people, this wouldn’t be mentioned in this post!

So guys, thank you so much for reading this post, this was just so there could be a bit more recognition for young bloggers. I love blogging so although I showed the challenges of teen blogging, so on Sunday I’ll be sharing the benefits/skills gained from blogging next!

How You Can Come Up With New Blog Content Ideas

Hello everyone it’s Zainab here, welcome or welcome back to my blog! Today’s post, is going to be me addressing the hardest thing for bloggers: coming up with new content. Every blogger will have times where they cannot think of posts or new content. I struggle with this a lot. So, I’ll be sharing a few tips on how I come up with new ideas!

Look Back At Your Blog Archives

Looking at your blog archives is a great way of seeing the kind of content you used to write for the blog, and you can maybe rewrite some posts – but in a better way now that your blog has evolved! Obviously, if you’ve had a whole niche rebrand then you may not be able to do this completely, but you can still look at old posts and see if you can get ideas from them or redo them!

Think About What Holidays or Events Are Coming Up

Holidays and events are universal, and they really help boost your content ideas because you can get inspiration from the event or what other people do for the event. For example, my recent post about Self Love was written in February because that was the month of Valentine’s Day.

Have A Series To Get Readers Involved

There are sort of two parts to this. A series is very useful as it’s continuous so it will always allow you to keep similar posts publishing on a regular basis. And the next part is to keep readers involved, this way they can always be feeding back to you on content they’d like to see and how to improve your blog!

Draw Inspiration From the WordPress Reader

I always talk about the WordPress Reader as it’s the best way to get inspiration. There’s nothing wrong at getting ideas from someone else (but please make sure you give credit!) For example, I actually got the idea for the first tip in this post from Natalie Belle’s Blog, so go check out her wonderful posts! I tend to look through my ‘following’ and also the ‘discover’ page on the reader because I see content from people I know and also content I hadn’t thought of before!

Look At Trends From Other Social Media Platforms

Social Media platforms such as Instagram and Youtube also have bloggers and other creators. And trends on those platforms tend to grow much more then blog trends. So if you see a trend on Youtube, why not make it into a blog post? You can get people involved and it would be super fun for you!

I hope this post was useful for you all, I know it will be for future me! If you have any other tips for coming up with new content – please comment it down below to help others.

Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Blogging

Hey guys it’s Zainab! I get so many questions about blogging and my advice for people new to the blogging world and today I want to share some tips for new bloggers and what I wish I knew before I started blogging!

Quality Not Quantity
This is literally something I used to never understand however instead of writing long blog posts that people will be put off to read, why don’t you write less with more meaningful ideas?

Images Are Key
Like I said previously, people usually are put off by seeing long paragraphs and posts, so adding some nice photos will not only contibue to SEO of the post, but it will engage readers more!

Use Tags
For anybody that doesn’t know what tags are, they are basically words that you want your posts to come up for if you search for your post. If you really want to grow your blog from the beginning, using tags are so important, if you don’t use them at the beginning, it can effect your blog’s SEO in later stages.

Only Use Your Own Photos

Like I said previously, images are key, but I can’t stress enough to not use photos from google! If you use photos from google, there’s a chance you could be copyrighted, so it’s best to just use your own photos!

Have A Theme / Aesthetic
Having a constant and consistent theme is really important if you want to ‘brand’ yourself or your blog! This really helps if you want everything to contrast.

Interact With Your Followers
This is something I didn’t learn for a very long time, but it’s so important to interact with followers! You can learn more about them and their blog, and you can also help eachother grow as blogger friends!

Well that’s everything I wish I knew, I hope this helps, comment below your tips!

How To Balance Blogging And School

Hello everyone it’s Zainab! I get a lot of questions on how I balance blogging and school so today I want to share how I do that!

Have A Schedule
Having a schedule will allow you to prioritise parts of the day for school and parts of it to blog. If you set aside an hour straight after school for revision then you can prioritise the rest of the day for writing blog posts and organising your blog.

Spend The Weekend
If you’re quite big on school like me, instead of spending the week blogging you can spend the weekend blogging! This is great so you can spend school days revising and the weekend blogging!

Prioritise Which Is Important
In this part you really have to think what’s important. If you want to have a very academically focused life when you’re older, you may want to spend more time in school. Whereas if your goal is to me a full time blogger maybe you should spend more time on your blog!

Thank you guys so much for reading, let me know how you balance blogging and school in the comments!

The Best Way To Manage Your Blog Content

Hi everyone it’s Zainab, welcome or welcome back to the blog! I’ve had so many questions about how I plan my blog content so today I’ll share the best way that works for me.

In my school organisation posts I showed that I used paper notes which stay right on my desk, I’ve tried this for blog posts but plans change therefore it wasn’t practical so I’ll share my new method below!

The Digital Method
So I’ve used Apple Notes to plan out my content and it really helps! I make a table in Apple Notes with one side with the dates and the other side with blog posts!

This method works as sometimes I may forget to write posts or I need to change the date so I can easily switch it on my phone!

I also love this as I always have my phone on me so if I ever have a lightbulb moment I can quickly note down the post so I don’t forget. Also, this method doesn’t just apply to blog posts, I use this method for Instagram posts too!

Thank you guys for reading this post, I hope it helped anybody who needs a simpler way to organise blog posts!

Also, I’m so excited to announce I am on Pinterest again! I had to take some time off as I was trying to be ‘Pinterest Perfect’ but I’m back now sharing all my blog posts, ideas and more! Be sure to follow me on there @zainabchats (I’m following everyone back!)

Blogger’s Confessions With Anna

Hey everyone it’s Zainab, we’re back for another Blogger’s Confessions Interview. Today, I’m here with the lovely Anna who has a cool blog that talks about so many different topics I’ll link it here. Let’s get onto the questions! Also, before we start I just wanted to say Blogger’s Confessions is inspired by Happy Hour on Sophie’s Corner Blog so check her posts too! Now let’s welcome Anna to Blogger’s Confessions!

  1. Anna, thank you for agreeing to be interviewed. You have quite a popular blog and recently achieved 100 followers! How long did it take you to a grow an audience that big and what advice would you give to bloggers that want to grow?
Firstly, thank you for interviewing me, Zainab! It really means a lot. So it took me around one and a half months to get 100 followers. It’s getting really close to my second month-iversary. My advice would be to keep posting consistently, but not take too much pressure. Because I feel like the more pressure you take, it actually shows in your writing, and will make the posts sound fake and artificial. My second piece of advice would be to also interact well with your audience. I’ve met amazing bloggers along the way and made some close internet friends:)
  2. On your blog you have very unique posts such as the ‘Myths About Hinduism’ post. Where do you get inspiration for posts like this and what advice would you give to people for coming up with content?
Aww thank you! I’m glad that you think my posts are unique. I guess I just get inspiration from myself to be honest. I blog about things that interest me and are part of my personality, so my posts can have a more personal approach.
  3. We all know the internet can be sometimes cruel, has anyone ever given you hate comments, if so what advice would you give to people to get through it?
I haven’t exactly gotten hate comments, because I feel like our WordPress community is a very sweet, encouraging one. But I have gotten a few comments that kind of criticised what I wrote, but not directly. I take these comments like constructive criticism and my advice to fellow bloggers would be this:don’t let haters bring you down, let them make you stronger. Haters are everywhere, and most of the time it’s probably not because they actually hate your post. It’s probably just because they want to pull you down, so don’t let them get to you.
  4. Finally, how long have you been blogging for and who or what inspired you to start your blog?

I’ve been blogging for around 2 months now I think. I was actually inspired to blog by Tashi Rodriguez and other fashion blogs, and my first ever blog was a fashion blog. But eventually I scrapped that because I realised I love a lot of other things, too. So then I started my current one!

Thank you so much for interviewing me, Zainab! Lotta love xx

Thanks so much to Anna for agreeing to be interviewed, I hope her advice helps you guys and your blogs! Let me know in the comments who you want to see interviewed next!

My Blogging Journey

Hey everyone, it’s Zainab welcome back to the blog! Today, I thought we should all have a nice chat and I wanted to share with you my blogging journey and how I began blogging, hope you enjoy!

How I Began

I was never really specifically looking to start a blog because honestly, I’m more talkative! However, one afternoon I was just browsing Youtube and I came across a video called ‘How To Start A Blog’ from Meg Says. Just in case you don’t know who she is she’s a super talented blogger and she also has a Youtube Channel (find her blog here and her channel here). I began watching the video with no intention and after it was over I realised how easy it was to start a blog so I did!

How I Started It

As some of you may know, I started my blogging journey on my old blog, Z.H Blogs! I used Blogger and I found it such an easy way to start a blog and then I began! I did posts exactly like the ones I do on this blog! After about 4 months on Zainab Chats I realised that I needed to switch it up slightly! Blogger was great but I realised that a lot of other bloggers used WordPress so I decided to switch to WordPress! It was honestly the best move I made!

Where I Am Now

Zainab Chats has really given me an insight on what Blogging is really about! I’ve also been able to see so many more amazing bloggers who are HUGE inspirations to me! I’ll name some here  ↓

Meg Says, The Striped Plaid, Christina And Camera and many more! These 3 bloggers were the people who I aspired to be like before people I even launched this blog!

I just want to thank everyone who has been part of my blogging journey and I’m so excited for the future of Zainab Chats. My aim is to probably collaborate with any other bloggers or maybe win an award (fingers crossed!)

Thanks for reading this post guys, I hope you enjoyed. If any of you out there want to start a blog I say go for it! This will probably be my last sort of blogging update until my blogiversary (which isn’t until April!) See you in the next post guys!
