Answering Your Anonymous Questions

Hey guys, today I’m going to be answering your anonymous questions that you guys asked on Tellonym! Let’s get into it!

How Do Your Friends Describe You?
My friends will probably describe me as extremely loud, normally very energetic and crazy at times!

Who Can You Count On?
Honestly, I’m so lucky to be able to count on so many people, such as my family and friends! Even in something like the blogging world I have so many friends who have given me so much advice!

What Was The Last Thing You Ate?
As I’m writing this, the last thing I ate was my breakfast – which is usually Coco Pops cereal!

Do You Think It’s Important How People Present Themselves On Social Media?
I totally think it is, these days there are so many people on Social Media and quite a few of them are haters therefore it’s really important to present yourself well on Social Media, especially since there is more and more adversity on there every day.

Would You Like To Have Pets?
I actually did used to have two pet rabbits; but they were a huge responsibility and because of things happening at home, the timing just wasn’t right to have pets so unfortunately we had to give them away, but at least they both have more attention now! I actually used to be sad about giving them away so I said they passed away to remove the guilt, but know I know it’s best for them! Proving that everything happens for a reason!

Are You Scared Of The Dentist?
Yes! I’m so scared of the dentist, it just scares me how someone is poking around in my mouth!

What’s Your Favourite Word?
My favourite word would probably be ‘nifty!’ It kind of means interesting, I’m not actually sure if it’s a real word but I use it a lot!

What Word Do You Say The Most?
The word is say the most is probably ‘basically!’ I use that word a lot to explain things to people!

Do You Usually Eat Breakfast Every Morning?
Yeah I do! I love eating breakfast, it’s definitely one of the things that gives me energy in the morning! Like they say, ‘breakfast is the most important meal of the day!’

Blogger’s Confessions With Maryam From Infinitely A Daydreamer

Hey everyone it’s Zainab, today I’m getting to interview one of my great blogging friends: Maryam from Indefinitely A Daydreamer! Let’s get into this interview!

Thanks so much for agreeing to be interviewed, let’s start by you telling my readers a bit about yourself and your blogging journey?

Thank you for having me on your blog Zainab and hello to everybody reading!

I’m Maryam- a minimalist, intersectional feminist, lifestyle + wellness blogger and creatively driven teen from sunny Sydney. I’m an aspiring interior designer and self proclaimed iced coffee fanatic. I’ve been blogging over at infinitelyadaydreamer for over five years now. It’s a home for all my internal musings and has brought me community.

A fun fact about my journey is that I started off as a gaming blogger! I was ten years old and quite in love with movie star planet. It was essentially a fan page. I had come across an ad for WordPress while browsing online and figured I’d make my own site as it seemed like a mature, adult thing to do!

Your blog has over 900 followers, very close to 1000, what strategies did you use to grow your blog to this many followers?

I’m currently about forty followers away from a thousand and am mindblown when I contemplate this figure!

I have a considerably larger following on my Instagram page but I’ve always considered blogging to be a more difficult pursuit. When you have a website there are many aspects to manage and be on top of. It’s not as simple as taking pretty pictures and waiting for a potential audience to click that follow button! It is, however, more than worth going the extra mile for. I started taking blogging more seriously early last year and that’s when the change happened. When I first started my blog growth was very slow to come. My site was unrefined, I had no defined niches and I certainly wouldn’t have followed me if I was in someone else’s position. My content at that point didn’t offer anything of value to the reader.

I’ve worked hard to make sure my blog posts are worth my reader’s time and that I pass on a lesson, teachable moment or add to their day, even in ways subtle.I post consistently three times a week and use a mixture of stock and my own images throughout my website. This gives my posts a polished, professional look whilst allowing my audience to get to know me. I like to strike a balance and post on both serious and light hearted topics. It is important to me that I cross boundaries and appeal to a wider audience than just teenagers.

Lastly, I am to always represent myself in a way that speaks to who I truly am. I want to be authentic and let my audience know that I am person just like them. I laugh, I cry, I make mistakes, I have days where I feel on top of the world.

On your blog, you talk a lot about minamalism in life, how did you get involved with this lifestyle?

I discovered minimalism in 2017 and it changed my life in remarkable ways. I used to be someone who hung onto every little trinket and momento. My bedroom was chock full of them. It was suffocating both physically and mentally- to further illustrate this point, I even found a letter received from an ex!

This was a turning point. I realised that I needed to make a big lifestyle change. I did my research, watched some documentaries and slowly but surely started to live again. I emptied my closet, my desk drawers and ruthlessly culled when and where needed. I gave my space a thorough clean and made a commitment to change my ways. I chose minimalism because it is an enabler, not a disabler. It brings a higher sense of clarity and purpose to all those who pursue it. At its core, minimalist living denotes the intentional promotion of what is most valuable and the subtraction of what distracts from that. Minimalism invites you to come as you are and slowly begins to affect change in youre lofe.

For the final question, for those of you who have seen Maryam’s blog her blog design is amazing, how did you come up with your amazing blog design?

You are so lovely! Thank you for the kind words. I designed my blog graphics a couple of years back and rework the layout when I feel like a fresh look is needed on the blog. I stick to a simple palette of grey, white and gold florals as this is timeless and I am identifiable by this. Essentially, it’s my signature look 🙂

Being a minimalist I value simplicity. This is what I find the most beauty in- uncomplicated design with no frills and no fuss!

Guys that’s everything, but you should definitely check out Maryam’s blog, and get her to 1 thousand followers!

Top 5 Blog Growth Tips

Hey everyone it’s Zainab, hope you’re all doing well! One of the main questions I get asked is how I have grown my blog! So, today, I’m going to share with you 5 of my favourite blog growth tips!

  1. Use WordPress Reader
If you use WordPress Reader, you will be able to find so many more new blogs. If you find blogs similar to yours and engage with their posts they will have a look at your blog and follow it as you have the same content!
  2. Engage With Your Current Followers
If you already have a suitable amount of followers then you have to make sure that you engage with them when they comment. People will not want to continue following you if you don’t interact with them when they interact with you! You can also find out lots of stuff you have in common with your followers and make blogging friends!
  3. Promote On Social Media
Social Media is a great way to grow your blog, it’s one of the main sources of traffic for mine. The main platform bloggers use is Instagram, but you can also put your posts on Pinterest. Social Media is also great if you want to connect with your followers on a more personal level. I’ve met so many blogging friends through my other blogging platforms.
  4. Collabs
Before I jump into more detail for this point, I just want to say collaborations are mutually beneficial so you shouldn’t collab for growth, you should really collab if you want to have some fun with your blogger friends! You can both share your points of expertise and then link back to eachother’s blogs!
  5. Blog Buttons
Blog Buttons are your blog logos and links on other people’s blogs which people can click on to be directed to your blog. It’s a great way to connect with and find new bloggers. I personally do not use these any more but it’s a great way to grow in the beginning!

So guys that’s all, I hope these tips help you grow your blogs, share yours below! I would love to hear them!

Enola Holmes Movie Review

Hey everyone it’s Zainab, recently a new movie came out on Neflix called: Enola Holmes and it was in Netflix’s Top 10 so I had to watch it! Today, I’ll review the movie and share my thoughts!

Official Reviews:
Enola Holmes received 90% on the Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer and had 71% on the Audience Score. Also, the movie had 94% of Google Users liking the film. On the website ‘Plugged In‘ it was said that, ‘Enola Holmes delivers mostly positive messages about individuality, equality and freedom.’

My Opinion:
Honestly, I thought Enola Holmes was such a great story and mystery focusing on finding your purpose, and spreading equality and helping people! It honestly has such a great mysterious plot as Enola’s mother has gone missing and she needs to find her, the way the film encapsulates it is incredible. It also has a huge historical aspect talking about things such as the Suffragettes movement and even the minor details such as the sets and costumes are so detailed! I also love how it links back to other films and series such as having Enola’s brother being Sherlock Holmes. This film also features an amazing cast with the one and only Millie Bobby Brown playing Enola herself, and doing a great job!

Synopsis:
While searching for her missing mother, intrepid teen Enola Holmes uses her sleuthing skills to outsmart big brother Sherlock and help a runaway lord.

So guys that’s the review, let me know if you’ve watched this movie in the comments!

Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Blogging

Hey guys it’s Zainab! I get so many questions about blogging and my advice for people new to the blogging world and today I want to share some tips for new bloggers and what I wish I knew before I started blogging!

Quality Not Quantity
This is literally something I used to never understand however instead of writing long blog posts that people will be put off to read, why don’t you write less with more meaningful ideas?

Images Are Key
Like I said previously, people usually are put off by seeing long paragraphs and posts, so adding some nice photos will not only contibue to SEO of the post, but it will engage readers more!

Use Tags
For anybody that doesn’t know what tags are, they are basically words that you want your posts to come up for if you search for your post. If you really want to grow your blog from the beginning, using tags are so important, if you don’t use them at the beginning, it can effect your blog’s SEO in later stages.

Only Use Your Own Photos

Like I said previously, images are key, but I can’t stress enough to not use photos from google! If you use photos from google, there’s a chance you could be copyrighted, so it’s best to just use your own photos!

Have A Theme / Aesthetic
Having a constant and consistent theme is really important if you want to ‘brand’ yourself or your blog! This really helps if you want everything to contrast.

Interact With Your Followers
This is something I didn’t learn for a very long time, but it’s so important to interact with followers! You can learn more about them and their blog, and you can also help eachother grow as blogger friends!

Well that’s everything I wish I knew, I hope this helps, comment below your tips!

Taking You Through My Dream Life Pinterest Board

Hey everyone! Today, I’m going to share with you my dream life Pinterest board and the different pins on it! Let’s jump into it!

Passing Exams
This tick is to signify that one of my dreams is to pass all my exams, I’m the type of person who doesn’t like failing (which isn’t necessarily a good thing) but I know I want to work hard to pass all my exams!

Karate Black Belt
Not many people actually know this but I’m actually training in karate! I’m currently a purple belt but one of my all time favourite dreams is to be a black belt, I hope I can reach it!

Good Family
I feel like most people want this in life but I cannot wait to have my own family when I’m older!

Talk Show
Some people know this but my dream is to have my own talk show, the Pinterest Pin of the set is a rough idea of what I would want my set to look like.

Dream House
That house that I’ve pinned is the exact one I would want to have when I’m older, I love the view and how it looks!

Well guys that’s my dream life Pinterest board! Hope you guys liked this post!

How To Be More Confident In Yourself

Hey guys it’s Zainab! One of my most requested posts is how to gain confidence and how to be confident in yourself! So today I’m going to share with you how you should be confident in yourself in different circumstances!

In Public: Most Of The People Will Never See You Again
If you’re in public and you need to do something like public speaking with a room full of people you hardly even know then just be yourself! Besides, most of the people you won’t ever see again so who cares what they think!

In Places With People You Know: They Won’t Judge You
With people you know, you should just be yourself because they won’t judge you as you already know them, and even if they do judge you, they’ll most likely keep it to themselves as they know you so you won’t even know what they think! So, embrace your inner confidence!

In Your Mental Health
I didn’t know whether to put this in or not however mental health is super important! So, the way I’m confident with my mental health is to just think of positive affirmations! Even simple ones like ‘you got this,’ can really make a difference!

Hey everyone it’s Zainab welcome or welcome back to the blog! Today, I’m going to share one of my favourite things, my dream board, and why it increases my positivity!

What Is A Dream Board?
A dream board is essentially a board full of all your hopes and dreams you want to achieve in your life! You can put anything from your goals to what you want your family to be like!

How It Can Increase Your Positivity?
As a dream board plans exactly what you want in your life it can increase your positivity as it can always help you remember your dreams and goals. It also increases positivity because if you keep it in a central area of your house or room you can always remember everything you want to achieve!

So guys that’s all there is today, let me know if you have a dream board or what you would put on it in the comments!

How To Balance Blogging And School

Hello everyone it’s Zainab! I get a lot of questions on how I balance blogging and school so today I want to share how I do that!

Have A Schedule
Having a schedule will allow you to prioritise parts of the day for school and parts of it to blog. If you set aside an hour straight after school for revision then you can prioritise the rest of the day for writing blog posts and organising your blog.

Spend The Weekend
If you’re quite big on school like me, instead of spending the week blogging you can spend the weekend blogging! This is great so you can spend school days revising and the weekend blogging!

Prioritise Which Is Important
In this part you really have to think what’s important. If you want to have a very academically focused life when you’re older, you may want to spend more time in school. Whereas if your goal is to me a full time blogger maybe you should spend more time on your blog!

Thank you guys so much for reading, let me know how you balance blogging and school in the comments!
